Paris Hilton reportedly ordered a diamond-covered dashboard for her Bentley. With this purchase, Paris got a lot of criticism for spending so selfishly and carelessly during a recession.
My question is this: If you have tons of money, what’s so bad about spending it? Who cares what the economy is doing. Obviously a recession has no effect on Paris. Why should her spending habits change?
Paris bought the Bentley for herself at Christmas and had it spray painted pink. She had the Bentley badge replaced with her own initials and had the windows tinted. She compared her car to Barbie’s corvette and how she’s always wanted a pink car and has always been a fan of Barbie.
The Bentley makers were shocked that Paris wanted to stud the dashboard with several hundred grand’s worth of diamonds, according to an Associated Press article.
What surprised me even more was how the plant is halting production until May due to economic downturn, and Paris has to wait to have her dashboard completed! OK, if someone is offering you a few hundred thousand, wouldn’t you consider that a reason to get the job done? Apparently not.
I see nothing surprising with Paris’ decision to “decorate” her car. If you had the money, wouldn’t you purchase diamonds or do things with your money that others would be jealous about?
